Learning PHP and MySQL

I spent yesterday on a one-day course learning about using PHP with MySQL. The course was actually being run by the College I work for so I was really fortunate to get to go along for free.

Along with both a PHP introduction course and a MySQL introduction course running at the College, this course was aimed more at beginners when it comes to programming.

Websites that win awards

Last week was the annual FE First awards arranged by the Marketing Network (Marketers in Post 16 Education). For those of you who don’t has the pleasure of working in the UK Further Education system in marketing, communications or design this may not seem a big deal but these awards are the closest we ever come to glitz, glamour and a small award certificate/trophy.

New Media, New Engagement

In a belated post I had the opportunity to attend this one off conference on the 12th of October. Organised by the CIPR Education & Skills Group this was a one day event looking at the strategic use of new media in Marketing, Communications and PR in Education.
